How BasinC Prints

BasinC has full support for the original ZX Printer. This printing device used thermal (silvery) paper and was about wide enough to fit the Spectrum screen - 256 pixels at most. This made it perfect for screen dumps and listings. BasinC emulates the printer as a proper device, and as such any machine code routines that use it should work fine.

The printer was quite slow, and as such BasinC can trap and accelerate the ROM printing routines for a faster operation. The option to do this is available on the Emulation Tab of the Options Window.

All BasinC's printer output can be sent to the PC printer via the Print Preview Window, where you can set up various options for sending either the current BASIC program, the current ZX Printer output or the current screen display. The PC printer works in a very different manner to the ZX Printer, so you cannot send the output directly to the printer - it must be converted into a graphic which is then sent out to be printed.

For more information, see the Print Preview Window and the help chapter on the ZX Printer Output Window.
